Starting from September Loto’s project with animals in hospital will be launched at the Policlinico Sant’Orsola, Bologna, as a strong contribution to women’s health. Special dogs educated by Chiaramilla’s volunteers (Chiaramilla.it) will spend their time in the Oncologic area among female patients for three months. Activities and games will give women the opportunity to distract themselves during sad and long hours waiting for chemotherapy.
Organization
Loto is a non-profit association based on the work of volunteers, who are fighting against ovarian cancer. One of Loto ODV’s goals is to disseminate information, making women aware of diseases like ovarian cancer. It was created in 2013 by a group of patients and friends who wanted to initiate a "pioneering" pathway to deal with a disease whose causes are unknown and for which effective measures for early diagnosis are not yet available. Dedicated events, workshops and conferences, the website, social media and the newsletters are the main tools through which information, support and awareness-raising activities are carried out.
