Gynecologic cancers are not very common individually – but taken together, more than 2,000 women are affected each year in Switzerland, and over a third of them eventually die from the disease. Although the various types of gynecologic cancers differ greatly in terms of treatment and prognosis, they do share some commonalities: they often have a lasting impact on quality of life, typically lead to changes in one’s previous lifestyle, and due to the lack of awareness and the taboo surrounding these diseases, affected individuals rarely have the opportunity to openly exchange experiences with doctors or medical staff. ElleHELP aims to provide support in this area.
