HPV FASTER Maya, a MyCandor initiative, works to reduce cervical cancer disparities in rural Maya communities in Guatemala. By combining culturally responsive education and community outreach with HPV vaccination, HPV DNA–based screening, and follow-up care, the program brings prevention and early detection closer to women and families facing barriers to care. In recognition of World Gynecologic Oncology Day, HPV FASTER Maya underscores a hopeful truth: cervical cancer is largely preventable, and equitable access to vaccination, screening, and timely care can save lives.

Organization

MyCANDOR (Cancer Access through Next-generation Diagnostics and Oncology Resources) is a nonprofit organization built around two core pillars. The first is HPV prevention through patient advocacy, anchored by the HPV-FASTER Maya program, which works to expand HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening access, currently focused in Guatemala with efforts underway to extend into other parts of Latin America. The second pillar is breast cancer education and advocacy, delivering clinically grounded, evidence-based content, bilingually in English and Spanish, to reach communities that have historically been underserved or excluded from mainstream cancer education and care. Together, these pillars reflect MyCANDOR's mission of advancing health
