AbbVie Korea held an internal campaign called "Flower Re:blossom" to support patients with gynecologic cancers, such as ovarian cancer, ahead of World Gynecologic Oncology Day on September 20. The event aimed to raise awareness about gynecologic cancers—including ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers—and to show solidarity with patients. Gynecologic cancers are often difficult to detect early, meaning patients tend to face significant physical and emotional challenges during treatment. In particular, ovarian cancer has a five-year relative survival rate of only 65.8% in Korea, which is significantly lower than that of breast cancer (94.3%). More than 70% of ovarian cancer patients are diagnosed at stage 3 or 4, which limits treatment outcomes. As part of an employee-participation program, AbbVie staff filled empty flower baskets with blooms and wrote supportive messages to patients. The message cards, distinguished by flower color, conveyed meanings such as everyday life with family, return to society, improved survival, and enhanced quality of life. Additionally, Professor Jeong-Yeol Park of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Asan Medical Center in Seoul gave a lecture to employees. He explained the treatment journey of ovarian cancer patients, challenges in early detection, limitations of standard treatment, and the burden of disease in recurrent cases, emphasizing the importance of regular screening and appropriate treatment.
