In 2016 Maria Fois Maglione founded the “Il Giardino di Lu” Association in memory of her daughter Luena, taken from her life by ovarian cancer at the age of 37. Luena loved tulips and it is precisely from these flowers that Maria Fois's initiative began: a great challenge that involves an ever-growing community of volunteers and donors who, captured by his thoughts and the beauty of the Garden, share and support his purpose. The Garden of Lu donates the proceeds from the sale of flowers to the organization and support of an intense activity to raise public awareness on the topic of ovarian cancer because awareness of its existence, onset symptoms and risk factors are fundamental for survival from such an aggressive and little-known disease.
